The window during which you have the priority right to be offered a suitable alternative vacancy if you’re made redundant, typically 18 months from the expected week of childbirth, the actual birth date, the date of placement for adoption, or the equivalent trigger point for other family leave types. Outside this window, the ordinary redundancy process applies instead.

If you're made redundant 6 months after your baby is born, you're still inside the 18-month protected period, so your employer must offer you any suitable alternative vacancy ahead of anyone else.
