An Acas uplift is an increase of up to 25% added to an employment tribunal award when the employer has unreasonably failed to follow the Acas Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures. Tribunals can apply the same adjustment the other way, reducing an award, if it was the employee who unreasonably failed to follow the Code.

In practice

In the Lillie v The Big Dog Pub Co Ltd and H Riley case, the tribunal added a 12.5% uplift to a chef's compensation because his employer failed to follow the Acas Code of Practice.
